Step into the realm of dragons! Snowdonia, Wales's inaugural National Park and a cherished destination in the UK, holds a unique allure. There's a mythical quality when clouds cradle the valleys of Snowdonia. Encompassing 827 square miles of pristine landscapes featuring rugged mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and dense forests, Snowdonia promises to forge memories that endure far beyond your expectations.
Day 1
Embarking on a captivating journey from London, our path unfolds into the enchanting landscapes of North Wales, where our first destination, Conwy, awaits. Nestled against the formidable backdrop of Snowdonia's majestic peaks, this picturesque harbour town beckons with its timeless allure. Immerse yourself in the rich history as you gaze upon the impeccably preserved 13th-century castle, and the quaint 'The Smallest House in Great Britain' by the riverfront, leaning against the Castle's tower wall, adds a touch of whimsical charm.
As the invigorating sea breeze fills your senses, we guide you to the welcoming haven of your accommodation for the next two nights. Here, amidst the tranquil surroundings, take a moment to unwind, rejuvenate, and indulge in a sumptuous dinner. Let the anticipation of the adventures awaiting you over the next two days mingle with the promise of a restful night's sleep, ensuring you're fully prepared to embrace the wonders that lie ahead. Day 2
Following a restful night and an early breakfast, our day begins with an early start for a journey filled with scenic routes. Our initial destination is Llanberis, where you'll embark on a once-in-a-lifetime heritage railway journey to the summit of Snowdon, a mythical and majestic mountain offering an otherworldly experience and breathtaking views. The round trip to Snowdon Summit will take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, and your tickets are prebooked and included, ensuring a hassle-free experience — just be sure not to be late.
If fortune smiles upon you, there might be a chance for a quick stop at Padarn Country Park to capture a picture of The Lone Tree on Llyn Padarn at sunrise, considered the most beautiful and loneliest tree in Britain.
The next stop takes us to Llanberis Slate Quarry, now transformed into the National Slate Museum. Nestled between two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, Dolbadarn Castle and the surroundings of Llanberis vividly evoke the charm of Interlaken in Switzerland.
After lunch, relax and take in the passing mountains of Snowdonia as we drive through the most scenic route, from Llanberis to Nant Peris and Pen-y-Pass, leading to one of Wales’s most charming and unique villages, Portmeirion. With its Mediterranean ambiance, this village was crafted by Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis, seamlessly blending iconic architecture, scenic surroundings, and vast woodland gardens while preserving the natural beauty.
In the evening, return to your accommodation via the valleys of Snowdonia, concluding your day. (B, D)

Day 3
Following breakfast, you check out of your accommodation. We continue the scenic journey through Snowdonia from Tregarth to Betws-y-Coed via Nant Ffrancon, a local favourite renowned for its breathtaking views. The Nant Ffrancon valley, formed by Ice Age glacial scour, sits more than 750m below the level of enclosing ridges.
Take ample opportunities to pause along the route, immersing yourself in the crisp air and breathtaking vistas, including waterfalls, mountains, and the picturesque landscapes of the valley. After a morning surrounded by the beauty of the mountains and lakes near Snowdonia, our journey leads to the most enchanting village you'll encounter in your three days in Snowdonia.
Betws-y-Coed feels like a city frozen in time, boasting all the charm, history, and folklore one would expect, set against a backdrop of lush woods at the convergence of four lively rivers. Be sure to indulge in lunch here, as the village offers excellent dining options and a chance to mingle with locals and fellow travellers, sharing your Snowdonia experiences.
In the afternoon, we bid farewell to Snowdonia and return to London in the evening. (B)

ALTERNTIVE: If the weather is favourable and conditions are optimal for witnessing the rare
and spectacular cloud inversion — a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon — and if you possess trekking and hill-climbing expertise, we highly recommend an early morning ascent to one of the mountains. You can either aim for the convergence point of Miner's Track and Pyg Track or ascend to Llyn Idwal, an alpine lake surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Exploring the Llyn Idwal circular trail typically takes around 90 minutes to 2 hours, making it suitable for experienced hikers.
Snowdonia serves as a haven for those seeking to capture the elusive yet stunning sunrise cloud inversion, a phenomenon induced by cold temperatures in the valleys. If the weather permits, you can literally find yourself above the clouds in the early morning.
It is essential to bear in mind that experiencing a cloud inversion often involves walking through the cloud to reach the clear, sunny skies higher up. Be prepared for potentially poor visibility and ensure you are comfortable navigating through such conditions. Opt for a route that is not too challenging during your cloud inversion quest, as conditions may not persist throughout the day. The earlier you reach your summit, the greater the likelihood of encountering optimal conditions.
CAUTION: We strongly discourage attempting any mountain trekking unless you possess substantial experience in mountaineering or trekking and are familiar with the terrain. Alternatively, we highly recommend participating in guided group hikes led by qualified instructors. If needed, we can organise a qualified instructor exclusively for you at an additional cost.
