This 5-day unforgettable trip of England offers a delightful mix of big-city thrills and quintessentially English village charm. Roam the lively, Roman-walled city of York and experience the surroundings of Shakespeare’s Tudor England. Throw in fascinating architecture with famous university towns and the spectacular scenery of the Lake District, and you’ve a perfect mix of ancient and modern history with natural scenery.
Day 1: From Cambridge's Ivory Towers to York's Medieval Lanes
We depart on a captivating 5-day circular journey across England, commencing with our departure from London. Our route takes us through Letchworth Garden City before immersing ourselves in the historic charm of Cambridge, home to the prestigious University of Cambridge and its iconic colleges. Explore the splendour of King's College and its chapel (included attraction) before you indulge in a satisfying lunch.
Create lasting memories exploring idyllic Cambridge – get into hustle and bustle of the city’s ever-changing market stalls, pick up tasty international street food, and time permitting, climb 123 steps up Great St. Mary’s Church for panoramic 360 degree views of Cambridge and beyond.
Continuing our adventure, we travel north through the picturesque Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire countryside, reaching the medieval walled city of York. Enjoy leisure time to wander through medieval lanes and the enchanting Shambles, renowned for its remarkably charming 13th-century timbered streets. As the day concludes, we retreat to a city centre hotel in York for a restful overnight stay. (D)

Day 2: York's Cathedral Splendour and Windermere’s Lakeside Serenity
After a good night’s sleep and a classic English or vegetarian breakfast, your day begins with a visit to York Minster (included attraction), the largest Gothic Cathedral in Northern Europe. Constructed over 250 years, its Central Tower can accommodate the Leaning Tower of Pisa inside. Take some time to freshen up and grab a mid-morning coffee or tea and a quick snack before we head to the Lake District, skirting along Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Our first stop in the Lake District is Bowness-on-Windermere. Enjoy an afternoon Lake Cruise on Windermere (included attraction) for breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. Take a stroll to Cockshott Point, a short walk from Bowness Bay.
Capture the moments as we visit Claife Viewing Station on the western shores of Lake Windermere, offering interesting history and stunning views. If you enjoy a mid-afternoon coffee or tea on the go, there's a small café too.
Next, explore Ambleside, a town filled with charming shops, activities, and eateries, set against a backdrop of beautiful scenery. Ambleside makes a perfect location for families to spend some time at leisure. After dinner in Ambleside, we head to your Lake District hotel for a two-night stay. (B, D)

Day 3: Lake District’s Scenic Drives and Tranquil Waters
After breakfast, it is time to you travel northbound via Rydal Water, Grasmere, and Thirlmere lakes to Keswick. There will be an opportunity to stop at Stepping Stones and Rydal Cave that is manmade on the site of a former slate quarry.
You will have time to meander around the streets and explore Keswick on foot as you build up an appetite for lunch or opt for a full Afternoon Tea in Lake District or Oxford (1 Full Afternoon Tea is included). There are many eateries in this famous market town nestled between two mountains and Derwentwater.
Post lunch, you journey along the Derwentwater lake to arrive at a Surprise View that offers panoramic views of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite lakes from a clifftop. You continue to journey south passing Lodore Falls along River Derwent to arrive at Borrowdale. Borrowdale valley is one of the most idyllic places on earth.
From here, your journey of Lake District continues via Honister Pass that forms part of a circular scenic drive to Buttermere, Crummock Water and Newlands Pass. One of Cumbria’s highest passes, it is not as dominated by visitors as other parts of Lake District. In the evening we return back to your hotel to freshen up where you can enjoy the relaxing dinner before retiring for the night. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Manchester's Pulse and Shakespeare's Roots
We check out of the hotel after breakfast and head southbound to Manchester, third largest city in the UK. Once the world’s manufacturing powerhouse, this vibrant city is full of life. There is so much to love about Manchester, the Media City, the Trafford Centre and renowned art galleries.
After spending the morning in Manchester, you have time to discover hip new restaurants, diverse food halls and markets. The cuisine in Manchester is as diverse as it’s people.
After lunch, we depart for the afternoon visit to the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Developed along the banks of River Avon, it is the birthplace of possibly the most famous writer in English language, William Shakespeare. Stroll around Henley Street famous for Shakespeare’s Birthplace (included attraction) with a mix of gift shops and lifestyle shops.
Time for a final refreshment break before we journey towards Birmingham for our overnight stay in this lively city. (B, D)

Day 5: Cotswold's Quaintness, Oxford's Grandeur and Fashion Galore
Today is the last day of our circular trip of England. After breakfast, we depart for the whole day visit to the Cotswolds, Oxford and Bicester.
Your first destination is the highest market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold. Here, you will have time for some sightseeing, do not miss the oldest inn in England along with the little independent stores in the market square. Your next stop is a tiny riverside village of Lower Slaughter. Marvel at the beautiful cottages & stunning old water mill.
Next you visit the most famous village in the Cotswolds, Bourton-on-the-Water. Wander along the river, crossing little stone bridges. This is the perfect stop for mid-morning coffee where you can spend time watching the world go by or visit the famous Model Village which is a one-ninth scale.
Having built up an appetite, we travel to Oxford. You are spoilt for food choices as there are many eateries from Michelin star restaurants to market stalls in the Covered Market. If you have opted to have your Full Afternoon Tea in Oxford, relax and see the world passing by while you enjoy the Afternoon Tea. After lunch, you have about two hours or so to wonder around this college town that is steeped in history and renowned the world over. All of Oxford University’s 38 colleges are located within walking distance of each other in the centre of Oxford.
Your journey back to London is packed full of luxury shopping extravaganza but at discounted prices at the Bicester Village. Here you will have a couple of hours to shop for your favourite luxury brands and time for a final refreshment break before we journey along Oxfordshire countryside and Chiltern Hills back into London.
